Finding Yourself a “New” Used Pickup Truck

With a new lease on life in 2020, this might be the perfect time to update your transportation.  Our team at DuraFlap put together a few pieces of advice to help you make sure your next vehicle is safe and sound:

  1. Inspect the truck in good lighting. Make sure you can move around the truck well and see into joints and between the cab and the bed.  Bring a flashlight with you to check under the hood and under the body.  Good lighting will also cast shadows on many dents and dings.
  2. Get a good look at places where pieces come together. By examining areas such as between the fenders and the hood or between the bed and the cab you could find overspray, mismatched paint, or even rust–sure signs of previous damage or poor maintenance.
  3. Do a simple engine check. Do you see new gaskets?  That may mean the engine has been recently repaired.  Look at the radiator fluid.  If it’s not a shade of green, it means the engine likely overheats.  Take a quick look at the transmission fluid.  If it has a burnt smell, the transmission may be starting to fail.
  4. Check for rust and rot. Winter weather and hazardous road conditions can kick an unhealthy amount of road salt up and onto the vehicle. Don’t just check under the truck, though.  Raised spots on the roof often mean there’s rust underneath.  Other areas that will illuminate rust and rot are between the cab and the bed and behind the seats inside the cab itself.

Once you have selected and purchased the right truck for you, a set of drill-less mudflaps from DuraFlap will maintain its good look and keep you driving safely on the road.  Our exclusive “Rain Grooves” direct rain, snow and road debris down and away from your truck.

Adding DuraFlap’s drill-less mudflaps is easy!   With a few quick measurements from you, we produce mudflaps that will fit with drill holes already existing in the wheel wells of your vehicle.  Installation is quick, and often costs about $30 a pair at the mechanic of your choosing.
