Even though you’re checking your truck’s fluid levels routinely and taking it in for an oil change according to your vehicle’s maintenance schedule, do you know if another issue may be lurking around the corner? Could your pickup truck be on the recall list for a possible safety issue? Our team at DuraFlap put together some important information about pickup truck recalls with you in mind.
According to Consumer Reports, one of every four recalled vehicles is still on the road without receiving the necessary repairs or replacement parts. As a vehicle owner, it can be difficult to track recalls since hundreds of them are issued every year. Typically, recall notices are sent to registered car owners in the mail, but databases are not always up to date and you may even have received recall notices for vehicles you no longer own.
The National Highway Traffic Administration created an easy 3-step process where you can check for current recalls on your vehicle AND register your vehicle so you can be notified of future recalls. Simply log on to www.nhtsa.gov and use your vehicle’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) to get started.
PickupTrucks.com shows a total of 11 pickup truck recalls in 2020 alone, ranging from minor running light issues to transmission problems. Here are a few highlights:
2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 models with tonneau covers
Almost 15,000 pickup trucks may have an attachment system where the tonneau covers are not mounted correctly and could fly off the vehicle while traveling.
2019-2020 Ram 1500 with classic windshield wiper arms
Over 425,000 trucks may have issues where the wiper arms are not attached well and possible failure may result in the driver’s inability to see the road.
2018-2020 Ford F-150 with running lights
Approximately 166,000 pickup trucks may have issues where the daytime running lights do not dim correctly.
Make sure you include a regular inspection of your truck’s splash guards. At DuraFlap, we have drill less splash guards that are easy to install and can be customized with artwork to show off your unique personality. We carry splash guards to fit all popular pickup truck models such as Chevy, Dodge, Ford, and GMC; and in fact, we are the ONLY manufacturer that produces full-size splash guards for 2019 and 2020 Chevy 1500 pickup trucks!
DuraFlaps’ drill-less splash guards feature exclusive “rain grooves” that direct rain, snow, and road debris down and away from the vehicle. Their anti-sail design prevents wind from pushing the splash guards upwards, which will give your truck increased protection from rock chips.
Check out our online artwork catalog to find the perfect design for your pickup’s splash guards. We have hundreds of designs like the American Flag, a Border Collie, and the “Don’t Tread on Me” logo; but if none of those reflect your inner spirit, we can custom create a design based on your unique artwork.
