Now that school is back in session, campgrounds and parks across the country will be less busy. It’s the perfect time to enjoy a little relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of town. Here are a few tips from the team at DuraFlap to help make your next road trip safe and relaxing:
- Cleaning Supplies. In today’s world, cleaning supplies might actually be one of the first things that come to mind when packing for a road trip! Along with your disinfecting wipes, antibacterial gel, and hand soap, make sure you bring paper towels, a mop and bucket with floor cleaner, a handheld vacuum, your broom and dustpan, plenty of sponges, and a trash can with extra trash bags.
- Cooking Equipment. You’re likely to do more cooking at the campsite than venturing into small town cafes these days. Check your grill to make sure it is working well, and pack your propane, matches, grill brush, tongs, meat thermometer, and aluminum foil. An extra electric skillet is handy when you’re short on time or space.
- First Aid Supplies. Whenever traveling, you should have a well-stocked first aid kit on board. It’s a good idea to review the contents regularly and replace any expired products. You can pick up a pre-packed first aid kit at many drug stores, or make your own by collecting these items: bandages, antibiotic cream, itch-relief cream, alcoholic wipes, gauze, pain relievers, tweezers, magnifying glass, antacids, and allergy medications. Don’t forget to take your prescription medications with you, too!
- Emergency Preparedness Equipment. You never know what unexpected turn your journey will take. Here are just a few items you should always carry in your RV: fire extinguisher, road flares, flash light, toolbox with basic tools, electrical tape, duct tape, extra fuses, scissors, shovel, work gloves, tire pressure gauge, extension cords, battery charger, weather radio, WiFi signal booster, and GPS system.
- Rainy Day Activities. Of course, no road trip is complete without a number of activities to do while hanging out inside the RV. Include a box of activities such as a deck of cards, your favorite board games, a book of crossword or Sudoku puzzles, a few books you’ve been meaning to read, and your writing journal with pens and markers.
And of course, don’t forget to check your RV mud flaps! Before you hit the open road, make sure your RV mud flaps are in good condition to protect your motorhome, your TOAD, and other vehicles on the road. Mud flaps are essential for preventing rocks and road debris from kicking up and causing chips or dents.
DuraFlap produces easy-to-install wheel well and rear mud flaps for most motorhomes. Choose OEM (original equipment manufacturer) rear mud flaps for makes such as Beaver, Entegra, and Travel Supreme or contact us to produce a design from your own custom artwork or personalized text.
